Turn out Tuesday 12/14 to oppose new injunction in the Fruitvale

We are asking our supporters and allies to come out to the Oakland City Council Public Safety Committee Meeting this coming Tuesday, December 14th starting at 5:30. Please wear red to show your opposition to the injunctions. We are also asking people to speak at the hearing. If this is something you can do, please come at 5pm to sign a speaker’s card (This is very important! You can also sign up to speak online at http://www.oaklandnet.com/cityclerk/speaker_instructions.htm).
City Council has NOT approved the injunctions. We want them to see that opposition to gang injunctions is strong and rooted in Oakland. We also want to let them know why we oppose the injunctions and that we, Oakland residents, have our own solutions to violence in Oakland communities. It’s really important especially at this moment that we are visible and strong, since the Fruitvale injunction has not yet been passed and the North Oakland injunction continues to be temporary.
We want to pack the room so they can visibly see how people feel about the injunctions.
We are meeting at 5pm outside City Council Chambers, which is at City Hall in Downtown Oakland,  14th and Broadway, Frank Ogawa Plaza Building. The session begins at 5:30. If people want to speak they must come early!
